Among the Cherry Trees

Last month I found myself squinting amongst the beautiful cherry trees at the Royal Botanical Gardens in Hamilton. When I went for a hike I paid a visit to my friends the swans, who were really into chasing me and coming right up to me without regard. I’m pretty sure I was more scared of them, then they of me.

Today the cherry trees have all lost their flowers, but I love going to the gardens just to relax and read. It’s my favourite place to go to and just get away from everything, carefree. Much of the garden's arboretum looks like an old English landscaped lawn, the kind you find in and around castles and big mansions. What is wonderful is that a lot of the time the Arboretum isn't too busy and so large that you can hide away and sit under tree without seeing a soul for hours.  It's my perfect hideout.

A little update

“It is spring again. The earth is like a child that knows poems by heart.”  ― Rainer Maria Rilke

This is a quick update to say Hello! I'm here. It's early June. Everything has been blooming inside and out the past few months, and I've been spending my time planning, preparing and drinking lots of tea, but not updating much. Yet, I have been taking lots of pictures and documenting my days, watching everything grow and the landscape change from a brown cold one into a lush green one. I've been filling my room up with lots and lots of flowers and these pictures show just a bit of what I've been keeping the past few months. Also as a big fan of Charbonnel et Walker truffles I thought I would give the sugared almonds a try, and boy have I been sorely disappointed with them! Definitely not a breakfast treat to say the least, but they do make the prettiest models for my photographs. I give them that.

Oh! You pretty things

It’s been over a month since the news of David Bowie’s death and it still feels pretty fresh. For me Bowie was always a symbol of everything you can become if you just sprinkle a bit of stardust into your hair and overcome your fear of flying above the rest. His sense of style, his attitude, and just his cool sense of being have always been out of this world and always an inspiration for me. He was a rare breed and a true star man.

I always loved the way his style changed throughout the different decades and how easily he seemed to move between outfits—from jelly sandals (!!) to high heels. Here are some of my favourite pictures of Bowie looking pretty perfect per usual.

I wish I owned a perfect sequin jumpsuit or a multicoloured three piece suit but this was the best I could do for now. My salute to you Mr. Bowie. Rest easy Star Man.

Fresh Skies

"For last year's words belong to last year's language
And next year's words await another voice." - T. S Eliot

Hello! It's been over a year since I last updated this blog and I honestly did not think I would start it up again, but changes in the wind have inspired me lately and I really want to keep this blog alive as much as possible. The last year has been a really fast moving thing that has given me a lot of opportunities even though at times it was strange and far too quick paced for my liking. 2016 has a lot of promises, however, and I'm really excited to have a place to share everything to come. So, please stay tuned and in the mean time here are some more icy photos from my apartment last year that feel fitting for these cold January days. Happy New Year friends!

I'm wearing a lace dress by Erin Fetherston and my favourite Persephone ring by Blood Milk Jewels.
